The Alexander City Civitan Club is part of the Alabama Central District of Civitan International. Civitan is a worldwide community service organization that was founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 1917. The name Civitan is taken from the Latin word Civitas which means citizenship. Civitan's motto is Builders of Good Citizenship. Today there are approximately 55,000 men, women, and young people in nearly 1,800 Civitan and Junior Civitan clubs worldwide. The Alexander City club has been active in community service activities since November of 1952. We meet at the Board of Education Building at 375 Lee Street, Alexander City, at 6 PM the first and third Tuesdays of each month. The club welcomes anyone, 18 years of age or older, to join with us if you are interested in giving back to your community and working to make the Alexander City area a better place in which to live. |
