Civitan International and the Arlington Civitan Club are charitable organizations that support mentally challenged and underdeveloped individuals.
 
 
The community garage sale events are fund raising events -in which the proceeds (after expenses) are contributed to local beneficiaries and to the Civitan International Research Center (CIRC).

Performing great community service in northern Virginia
The Arlington Civitan Club's Major Fund-raising Project is:
Eight - first Saturday - Arlington County-Civitan Community Garage Sale / Flea Market Events
FIRST SATURDAY SALES: Each year - The Arlington Civitan Club sponsors the Arlington County-Civitan Community Garage Sale events. These one-day community garage sale events are held "early in the day" on the first Saturday of each month - April through November.
 
 
LOCATION: Come to the multi-level Arlington County parking garage structure - an entrance located at N. 15th Street between N. Quincy and N. Stafford Streets (built over the top of I-66) - just 31/2 blocks NW of Ballston Metro Station, or 3-blocks north of N. Glebe Road and N. 15th Street.
 
 
Up to ~370 parking spaces are available to be rented by vendors - who  count on you coming to visit them and show that you might be interested in what they've brought to sell.
 
 
You'll be glad you came - the variety of merchandise has something of value for everyone!
 
 
INVITED: You are also invited to bring your garage sale here-  to this convenient central location and enjoy the traffic that has been coming here for more than 20-years.
 
 
BUYERS ARE ALREADY HERE: Sellers - why not come to where buyers already exist? These folks know where the bargins are! Why advertise for your sale at your home? Civitan advertises and puts out street intersection signs for you!
 
 
CONVENIENCES: There is some  "on street" parking nearby, portable toilets  . "Snacks and beverages" are available on Level "B" - on the second level down from Stafford Street entry.
 
 
PARDON OUR CONSTRUCTION - Washington & Lee High School is quickly becoming one of Arlington's finest school facility.
 
 
"RE-CYCLE": Containers for depositing your metal cans and plastic bottles will be  provided.
 
 
OUR COMMUNITY BENEFITS:    The community benefits by receiving Civitan donations for some of the proceeds being awarded to worthy local organizations - who work directly with individuals - who are underdeveloped and mentally challenged persons; Arlington Civitan also works with local youth participating in scholarships, are sponsors for those who attend the "Boy's State" and "Girl's State" programs each summer and are sponsors for "special olympics", summer camps and leadership camps.
 
 
TRADITION: Needless to say, "the sale event" has become a fine tradition in Arlington! A tradition to attend these events; and for recipients of Civitan fundraising to participate in "Civitan" sponsored activities & events.
 
 
PRICE FOR RENTAL SPACES: The price for each parking space remains at an affordable $20.00.
 
 
Arlington Civitan Club (and its parent organization Civitan International) is known for its charitable giving & sponsorship. Beneficiaries have receiving Civitan International gifts and awards, since 1917 - when it all began in Birmingham, AL
 
 
TIME INFO: Vendors should be in place and be ready for business - prior to 7:00 a.m. in order to minimize disruption to buyers and sellers alike; and are asked to remain in their spaces until the 1:00 p.m. scheduled snack bar closing.
 
 
HISTORY: Beginning in 1986, Arlington County authorized Civitan to use the parking garage decks constructed over the Interstate highway I-66 located between N. Quincy Streets and N. Stafford Streets on N. 15th Street in Arlington, Virginia. This space provided opportunities for an exchange between buyers & sellers.
 
 
Civitan invites you to patronize these events; When you do, you are already contributing to the success of our local northern Virginia community supporting charitable activities and giving in your own community.
 
 
OPPORTUNITIES TO JOIN & PARTICIPATE: Opportunities to join a local club can be explored at the CIVITAN BOOTH located adjacent to the "Snack Bar" located on the second level down from Stafford Street garage entrance - or one level up from the 15th Street walk-in entrance. Come and see us! Civitan has organizations that meet during the day in Tysons Corner, VA; in north Arlington in the evening and others are located in Fairfax, Leesburg, Winchester & Warrenton, Virginia. In Maryland, Civitan has clubs in Bowie, Glen Burnie, Frederick. VENDORS: Vendors rent (one, two, three or more) parking spaces and have your own Saturday sale right here.
 
 
BUYERS: Depending upon weather and other events being hosted in the surrounding area, there is a broad mix of merchandise available from our vendors - who just might have the collectables in "exactly the condition you want" or in "grown old gracefully" condition that you may seek.
 
 
Saturday's vendor activities (even in summer) begins before dawn...in order to be set-up and ready to sell at 7:00 a.m.
 
 
Selling activity lasts until after 1:30 p.m. - the "snack bar" closes just before 1:00 p.m. - the vendors packup their remains, close-up shop and leave the site until next month.
 
 
PARKING FOR BUYER'S ON LEVEL "E": Parking has been adapted, during construction - at parking deck "E" and Around the facility, early in the morning. Additional spaces have been made available in the Quincy Technology Park lot - if you follow the direction and please don't park directly in front of their building entrances.. The parking on the streets and level "E" is "free" - so don't park your car inside the garage - unless for convenience - it is worth the $20.00 price.
 
 
The parking spaces inside the parking garage will be occupied by vendors to display and sell products, prior to 7:00 a.m.
 
 
If you come later, there will be no space close to the parking garage - please don't drive into the space where the vendors are set-up and selling.
 
 
CLEAN UP AT THE END: The County provides a specific place to "dispose of " unwanted items at the end of the event. Ask any Civitan, or your neighboring vendor, who has been there previously, to tell you where this location is.
