The Bootheel Ladies Civitan Club was officially chartered with 36 members May 14 in a prestigious ceremony held in the Community Room of First State Bank, Caruthersville. Fred Norman, International Regional Director for Area 7, gave the keynote address and initiated the 36 new members. Norma Pew, Area 3 director for the Heartland District, installed the club’s officers – Jeannetta Edwards, president; Irma Jean Driver, president-elect; Pinkie Dixon, treasurer; Elnora Booth, assistant treasurer; Kendria Johnson, secretary; Marilyn Hunt, chaplain; Kendra Moore, sergeant-at-arms; and board members Carolyn Walker, Annie Mae Gipson and Janice Hall. The official charter was present to Edwards by Heartland District Governor Debbie Bruce-Juhlke of Round Rock Texas. All charter members were also presented with charter certificates and charter member pins. The Bootheel Ladies club was sponsored by the Paragould, Ark., club, Shawntae Templeton, president. “This club has done an outstanding job in organizing and chartering with 36 members,” said Bruce-Juhlke. “And the amazing part is that it was accomplished in four weeks. We are looking for big things from the Bootheel Ladies in the future. We know they will make a big difference in their community.” |
