Civitan's purpose is to serve the community. Individuals whose needs are best met through organized group action are prime canditates for Civitan service projects. Civitans seek experiences that provide life direction, character building, leadership development, and satisfaction of helping others. This began in the 1950's on an international level when Civitan funded some of the first special education training for school teachers. That continues today through efforts such as summer camps, Special Olympic games and research into Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Alzheimers at the Civitan International Research Center. |
