Start preparing the award nominations for your great work this year!
Our "WE ARE FAMILY" District Convention will be held jointly with Cardinal District Civitans at the Comfort Suites, Mineral Wells, on Saturday, April 2!
Our Year of Firsts ended with Firsts at the Jacksonville Junior Civitan International Convention!! We now have our first Junior Civitan International Officer! Mark Jarrett was elected International Director.
The hard work put in all by was recognized by International. For the first time the Cardinal District received Honor District of Excellence. Governor Mark Jarrett received the 1st Distinguished Governor of Excellence. The George Washington Junior Civitan Club also received an International Award for their Ongoing Project which is adopting Brooks Manor, a facility for mentally/physically challenged and senior citizens. The George Washington Club also received Honor Club of Distinction and the Jackson Club and John Adams Club received Honor Club.
We had the largest delegation since we became the Cardinal District with 20 Junior Civitans and 5 chaperones. A Big Wave of Thanks goes to all the Civitan Clubs who helped to sponsor a portion of each delegates travel expense. We could not have done it without you all! Special thanks go to the chaperones who gave up their time to help Chairs Jeanne Jarrett and Cheri Tolly. They were all from the Vienna, WV area and included ChrisAnn and Wade Ingraham and Norita Elzein! These three really went the extra mile when going home with the 14 Junior Civitans in their care had to spend an extra night in Florida when their plane was delayed and they couldn’t make their connection!
All in all everyone had a great time, learned a lot, met knew friends, and got motivated for the 2010-2011 Junior Civitan Year when our Juniors will be “Making Waves with Service”
