What is Civitan?

A service organization where hearts and hands make a difference in our community

 

The Cumming Civitan Club, located in Cumming, Georgia, is a chapter of Civitan International and was chartered in April 1987.  Members perform a wide range of community service work, with an emphasis on projects for mentally and physically challenged people. 

Our Motto:  Builders of Good Citizenship

Our Belief:  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Our Pledge:  To practice the Golden Rule and to build upon it a better and nobler citizenship.

 Meetings:  1st & 3rd Thursdays, 11:45 to 1:00pm

Civitan International

Founded in 1917 in Birmingham, Alabama by a group of businessmen who wanted to make a difference with hands-on projects in their community

1974 - women allowed to be full-fledged members.  Now there are clubs with all men, all women and co-ed clubs.

Flagship Project - Civitan Int'l Research Center, located at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.  Top scientists and doctors work to find cures for developmental disabilities.
