Education is one of the corner stones of a successful society and nation and Civitan offers several scholarships to assist those pursuing their higher education objectives.

Three tiers of scholarships are available to students :

Locally - The Dyersburg Civitan Club donates $1500.00 annually to Dyersburg State Community College to be used specifically as direct support for student enrollment expenses. These funds are administered by DSCC who select the scholarship recipient.

District - The Civitan Valley District provides two $1000.00 scholarships annually to students who are selected by the Valley District Foundation basd on a review of applications submitted by students.

The Dr. JF Burney Scholarship for $1000.00 is available to students enrolled at Austin Peay State University at the undergraduate ( sophmore or higher) or graduate levels.  

The Charlie Baker Scholarship for $1000.00 is available to students enrolled at an accredited college or university within the boundaries of the Valley District at the undergraduate level ( sophomore or higher) or graduate levels. 

Applications for district scholarships must be received at the district office by March 1 to qualify for consideration.

 International - Civitan Shropshire Scholarships for $2000.00 are available to Civitans ( or child or grandchild of a Civitan) enrolled at an accredited community college, vocational school, four year college /university or graduate school. Applications must be received at Civitan International postmarked no later than January 31 to qualify for consideration.
