For over 40 years Girls Slow Pitch Softball has been a spring and early summer activity for girls in grades 6-12. Parents manage and coach the teams. Since this is an instructional league, the rules provide opportunity for every girl to participate in every game regardless of ability. Having fun, making new friends, getting exercise and sportsmanship are emphasized. Games are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6p.m. and 7:15p.m. from May until the end of June at the Civitan Club Fields.

2008 CIVITAN GIRLS SOFTBALL LEAGUE

CODE OF CONDUCT

The philosophy of the Civitan Slow Pitch Softball League is to give all girls in grades 6-12 who want to play softball the opportunity to participate in a sports activity in a wholesome family-like atmosphere, to improve their skills, to learn the rules of softball, the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship, and to give them the opportunity to have fun and develop new friendships.

In keeping with this philosophy, this is what we expect from the players, coaches and fans:

Positive comments about the girls and the teams

Cheering and rooting for the girls and the teams

Good sportsmanship

Picking up litter after yourself

This is what we will not allow:

Inappropriate display of affections

Taunting

Vulgar language

Threatening language or actions

Criticizing any girl, team, coach or umpire

Anyone on the fields during a game except the players, coaches and umpires

Alcoholic beverages on the grounds

Excessive jewelry

Smoking by players, coaches or umpires

Anyone not following the league’s code of conduct will be given a warning. If the undesirable behavior occurs again, the person or persons will be asked to leave the fields immediately. The Fairfield Police Department has agreed to assist, if necessary.
