Who are Civitans?

Civitans are everyday citizens, just like you and me, who come together in communities throughout the world to serve.

Family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers meet at local Civitan clubs to socialize, learn, and serve in their communities. Starting with just a single club in 1917, and a vision for helping others, Civitan grew into an international organization.

Today, there are approximately 50,000 men, women, and young people in nearly 1500 Civitan and Junior Civitan clubs worldwide, with members in over 27 countries.

Since the 1930s, Civitan International's major focus has been toward helping people with mental and physical disabilities. Local clubs are also involved in a variety of community service projects, based on the needs of their communities.
