Welcome to the website of the Fabulous Florida District! We have dedicated Civitans all across Florida from Jacksonville westward to Tallahassee and all the way south to Homestead and Miami. There are Civitans in Pensacola and Panama City as well, although they are part of the Alabama-West Florida District. (http://www.awfcivitandistrict.org/) All around Florida, Civitans are “Paying it Forward” by doing amazing things in their communities and having a great time too: Special Olympics; Golf and Bowling Tournaments; building wheelchair ramps; making bears to comfort sick children; honoring the siblings of those with special needs. These are just a few examples taking place, thanks to our energetic and dedicated volunteers. And we’re not just adults. Besides involving our families, we have hundreds of enthusiastic middle school, high school and college age students volunteering through Junior Civitan and Campus Civitan Clubs. (http://www.floridajuniorcivitan.org/ ) I am very proud to be part of Florida District. We currently lead Civitan International in net Growth. We are a Leadership District in our support of the President’s Council. We attained the Captain’s level in the Civitans at the Helm program as strong contributors the our flagship project, the Civitan International Research Center (http://www.circ.uab.edu/ ). Our Florida Junior Civitan campaign, “Be a No Phone Driver” has received media attention and is gaining national attention. If you’re a Florida Civitan, be sure to share your stories and photos from your club activities. Compile your “Pay it Forward” examples into a scrapbook to celebrate at the end of the Civitan Year and share your best stories at http://www.civitan.org/html/pifstory.html . And continue to “search for others to join in the fellowship and service to Civitan”. If you’re a visitor, do consider becoming a Civitan with a club near you. Your “hands will do the work of the world and reach out in service to others” and for that you and your community will both be so richly rewarded. |
