Seek Meeting on November 20

The November 20 meeting will again be at the Bank Room of Gilligans (behind M&K BBQ.  This will be a seek meeting where we invite potential new members to find out about our club and Civitan International.  Let’s start the year off right with at least 5 new members.  The meeting will start at 7:00 pm and Gilligans is catering the meal.  If you are inviting someone, please call President Steve and let him know for a headcount.

New Junior Club in the Works

On Friday, November 14, representatives of our club, the East Rowan Jr. Civitan Club, and NC District
West met with faculty representatives of the newly formed Rowan Early College on the campus of Rowan Cabarrus Community College to discuss the formation of a new Jr. Club.  The meeting went very well and there appears to be sufficient interest to start the club.  This club will be unique in that it will be all freshmen since the Rowan Early College is in its first year.  Next year, a new freshman class will enter and the current class will advance. 
Each year for the next three years, a new freshman class will enter until the
school is fully populated.  At this point, if a Jr. Civitan club is formed, it
will be the only service club in the school.  The RCCC Student Government
Association is also assisting with the formation of the club.

Club Calendar Posted

The calendar for the coming year has been posted to the club’s website at www.civitan.net/gqcivitan. 

The final meeting of 2008 will be the club Christmas party for members and spouse/guest on December 4 at Shiloh Methodist.

Shares & Cares

The boys of Troop 379 continue their quest for Eagle.  The last of the Eagle projects is a prayer garden at Shiloh Methodist dedicated as a memorial to Chuck Barringer.  This project was conceived and completed by Colin Brown who anticipates completing his Eagle board of review later in November.  Jabe Fisher has one more merit badge to complete so he can stand his Eagle board of review.  Once these two young men become Eagle, all of the scouts  in the troop will be Eagle.  You are invited to attend the Eagle presentations.  Michael Meilinger’s will be at Immanuel Lutheran on December 7 at the 11 am service.
