Hillsborough Civitan Club Regular Meeting Minutes February 3, 2009 Village Diner Restaurant www.civitan.net/hillsborough Attending: Jane Clark, Mary Eagens, Vicki Hill, Susan Korn, Barbara Mull, Kimberly Smith, Roger Smith, Wendy Waugh Called to order 1:00 pm PROGRAM SPEAKER: Susan Korn Susan, a real estate broker, has added a new dimension to her skills which she hopes to apply when renovating houses for re-sale: concrete countertops. She explained the process and displayed some of the countertop samples she has made, with smooth, glossy finish and color textures from granite to colored concrete. She can do the work right in the home a lot faster and cleaner than a poured concrete countertop. Board Meeting Report Board voted to award funds to: Friends of OC Library $100, Dance-a-thon $50 and Sno-Do $50. Need to re-schedule 2/24 Board meeting. Current Fundraisers-Fruitcakes There were about 30 cakes leftover. Give one to clergy. Future Fundraisers-Spring Fundraiser Needed--Look into selling annuals. Roger will prepare forms and sales will be handled like poinsettias sales: pre-sales. Consider selling at Last Fridays. Upcoming Service Projects 1. Central Orange Senior Center Las Vegas night, Feb 13, Friday; volunteers Mary E., Susan Korn, Jane Clark, Kimberley Smith. 2. Clergy Appreciation 3. Food for All 4. UNC TV Festival 2/24, 6 to 11 pm, carpool. 5. Last Fridays New fee is $8 per Friday, up from $8 per season. If we do this, we will need more volunteers. 6. May sell annuals. Jane will help. Need things to display and to replace items sold last year.
