Hope Civitan sponsored a $250 scholarship in May of 2011 for an area High School studet heading to college.On January 27 & 27, 2011, Hope Civitan presented Special Education teachers in the community with Civitan mugs filled with goodies. We tried to show our appreciation for the job they do. Our Club adopted a family from the Angel Tree at DHS and one from Domestic Violence Prevention for Christmas 2010. Hope Civitan held a Food Drive around Thanksgiving 2010 to benefit Hope In Action. The club parked RVs for the 2010 Watermelon Festival to help with this community event. Also as part of the 2010 Watermelon Festival, we ran the annual Car Show, with help from Peggy Comer. Lots of lessons learned from both events and we look forward to helping next year. To celebrate Flag Day and Father's Day in June 2010, members of Hope Civitan participated in a project to deliver flags to all residents of nursing homes in Hope. For Mother's Day 2010, the Club made tissue paper flowers and delivered them to the women at the nursing homes in Hope. Hope Civitan assisted Rainbow of Challenges with a booth at the Jonquil Festival March 19-21 2010. We helped the clients with whatever they needed while they sold their goods. The club undertook a City Beautification Project. On March 27th, 2010, we picked up trash along Patmos Road. We helped in a Bocce Ball tournament as part of Special Olympics Arkansas in Hope. This was April 17th, 2010. Hope Civitan sponsored a food drive in November of 2009. We collected a couple hundred pounds of food for Hope In Action. During the Christmas Season of 2009, Civitan members provided gifts for six people - three Clients of Rainbow of Challenges and three from Domestic Violence Prevention. |
