Welcome, everyone to another new year in Civitan. It is a great honor and privilege to serve as the 2008 President of the Jacksonville Civitans. I would like to thank you for your continuous support, serve and dedication to the Civitans. As your new incoming President I will try to carry forth in the grand tradition of past Presidents. Dawn did an outstanding job in leading our club these past several years; I can only wish to stay in step with her accomplishments. Dawn, thank you.
I know in today's fast paced world it becomes difficult to find time for everything we need to fit into our lives, we divide ourselves between work, family, worship, a little recreation, our civic responsibility and hopefully a little down time to our-selves. Sadly we have reached a point that we continually have to decide what we will have to leave out because there is not enough time to do it all. As I begin my time as your president, let me thank you for the honor and privilege to serve with you in this capacity.
Numbering thirty-two members, from all walks of community life, both men and women and ethnically diverse, we are a true community organization. Our club is reflective of the strong volunteer commitment as set forth by Civitan International...and we are growing. Our Community Service projects have included: Onslow County Exceptional Children, Christmas Cheer, National Night Out, Project Graduation for Onslow County high schools, "Read Across America", Onslow County SAT Scholarship awarded to a student choosing a college major in Special Education and Support of the Civitan Cottage at Lake Waccamaw Boys & Girls Home, Inc. |
