The Lenoir City Civitan Club is part of an international civic organization which was founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 1917. The mission of Civitan International is to strengthen local communities by providing a network of volunteer clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs, with an emphasis on helping those with developmental disabilities. Founded in 1921, the Lenoir City Civitan Club is the oldest civic club in Loudon County. Except for the 1st Tuesday of every month when the club holds its business meeting, the club opens its doors to prospective members and guests. Our weekly lunch meetings are held at noon on Tuesdays at the Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding. The members are responsible for presenting a program on a rotating basis which provides variety and interest on a wide range of topics. In addition to keeping abreast of the current trends in our community and helping with community needs, our club is a networking resource. Our membership is diverse and includes public service, private industry, local government, financial services and much more.
