Some of the traditions in the Little Rock Civitan Club include:
Weekly meetings & programs
The Little Rock Civitan Club meets every Thursday for a noon luncheon
meeting and program. We strive to have guest speakers who are interesting, informative and timely and who speak on topics of current interest. Club members are asked to be responsible for arranging for several weeks or a month of speakers throughout the year.
Sergeant-at-Arms
If you hear a horn honk, itıs just the Sergeant-at-Arms doing his/her job.
Good-natured "fines" (25 cents, at least) are levied on club members who arrive late, forget their Civitan pin or name badge, who discuss "business" during lunch or who garner excessive publicity of some manner without touting their Civitan membership.
Care & Share
Members are encouraged to share joys and concerns during "Care and Share" time at the weekly meetings. Appropriate cards, gifts or correspondence are issued as needed.
Door Greeters
Civitans are friendly folks, and shaking hands and greeting one another is one way we strive to foster friendliness and comraderie among members and guests. Each week at least two individuals are designated "door greeters" for the following weekıs meeting. These persons are responsible for arriving in a timely manner and being stationed at the entrance of the meeting to greet members and guests.
Mystery Civitan
This tradition is another way we foster a friendly, welcoming environment at weekly meetings. The person designated as the "Mystery Civitan" must secretly ask another member to be the "Mystery Civitan" at the following weekıs meeting. The fourth person to shake that person's hand is announced and then designated to repeat the "mystery" the next week.
Newsletter
All members of the club receive a weekly newsletter, either by e-mail or a printed copy delivered via the U.S. Postal Service. It contains a complete listing of upcoming events and projects, as well as reports on past club activities.
