The club has received from Civitan International the funds for the Sam Rosen Scholarship; Mindy plans on awarding a student this spring.

January 21– Craig Slack D.S.S., a member of Kiwanis, was our speaker. He had a power point presentation along with very interesting information. Craig is a 1987 graduate of OSU Dental School. His present office is just across from Riverside Hospital at 3600 Olentangy River Road.  A lot of us just go to the dentist’s for cleanings and some minor dental care but Craig really has a large range of dental services available. His office is set up so that patients are comfortable and the schedule is set up so that you don’t do a lot of waiting. It was surprising to me all the ways that your teeth can affect your life, from health to how you feel about yourself. As part of a routine examine, your mouth is checked for any signs of oral cancer. In the age range from 17-35, the incidence of cancer caused by HPV is high. Gum disease that is untreated can double the chance of having a heart attack.  Gum disease can also contribute to low birth weight and premature birth. So brush your teeth and floss. Who knew!!!
