Nocatula Civitan Club
Home
The Nocatula Civitan Club was founded in 1990 and currently has 43 members. The club meets on the 1st and 3rd Fridays at noon at the Athens Diner on Congress Parkway in Athens, TN.

We enjoy a close link with both the Appalachian District and Civitan International as three of our members, Betty Haralson, Terri Honeycutt and Sheila Idol, are Past Governors of the District and one member, Betty Haralson, served as Senior Director on the International Board of Directors in 2--2-03 and in July, 2005, was elected to the office of Civitan International President-elect. In 2006-07 she served as International President. All three of these members are club builders and are active at the District level of Civitan.

As approximately 40% of our members are special needs individuals, most of our projects are "hands on" service projects. An example is that, with the aid of grant money, each year we purchase school supplies for 1st graders in McMinn and Meigs County schools (approximately 620 students). Our members then spend a meeting filling the school boxes with the supplies to be distributed to the schools.

The club has been awarded virtually every District Award through the years: Best Service Club, the highest club award given by the District, for three straight years, the Best Fellowship Award and Best Joint Junior/SeniorProject Award, Best Education, Best Newsletter and Best Scrapbook The club was honored at the International Convention in Greensboro, NC by receiving first place in the catagory of Outstanding Total Service to People with Mental and Physical Disabilities.

We're proud of the accomplishments of the members of the Nocatula Civitan Club and we would welcome you to visit and become a part of our wonderful organization. Lunch is on us! Contact either Betty Haralson at 423 336-3004 or Sheila Idol at 423 334-3777 for further information about the organization.
