| What is Rockville Civitan? |

The Civitan Club of Rockville was founded in 1956 by a group of civic minded, public spirited citizens who obtained a charter from Civitan International to carry forward in our community the purpose, goals and ideas of this world-wide organization.
Club Vision: The vision of the Rockville Civitan Club is to provide hands on community service projects and give financial support to projects benefitting people with develomental disabiliies, to give area businesses the opportunity to encourage employee volunteerism, and to extend their corporate community involvement.
We meet the first and third Monday of each month for dinner and fellowship. The first meeting is a business meeting where we discuss our various projects, raising funds, and other club matters. The second is a social meeting where we enjoy good fellowship and improve our knowledge by listening to speakers on various subjects.

| What is Civitan? |
|
Civitan is a worldwide, all volunteer, non-profit, service organization where men and women have an organized way of approaching local community problems through service and fund raising. We emphasize serving people with mental and physical disabilities, youth, senior citizens and the community. Local clubs are supported by Civitan International, which was organized in 1917 and now spans over 21 countries. The three principals of Civitan are Service, Knowledge and Fellowship. The word CIVITAN is a coined word that comes from the Latin word "CIVITAS", which means CITIZENSHIP. Civitan's motto is "Builders of good citizenship".
