CIVITAN CLUB OF ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND SCHOLARSHIP AWARD GUIDELINES
The Civitan Club of Rockville, Maryland has two programs designed to: (1) assist mentally and/or physically disadvantaged individuals to further their education and (2) provide funding to non-disabled individuals who are studying in a field that could help mentally or physically disadvantaged persons or want to participate in programs designed to prepare individuals to provide services to the mentally and physically disadvantaged.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
1. Applicants for scholarships must have resided or worked in Montgomery County, Maryland for at least one year.
2. Full time students must:
A. Be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester; and
B. Maintain at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 basis for either undergraduate or graduate studies.
3. Part-time students who also work must maintain at least a 2.5 average in their studies.
4. Applicants should describe the reason(s) why they are applying for the scholarship award.
5. Applicants should prepare an essay of no more than two pages, double-spaced on the nature of their interests and curriculum chosen.
NON-SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS
Funding will also be provided to persons who are not disabled if they are working full-time in a field dedicated to the education and advancement of the mentally and physically disadvantaged, and who want to participate in training programs that will ultimately benefit the mentally and/or physically disadvantaged.
