ABOUT US
We are CIVITAN Club of Simsbury and the Farmington Valley
We are a group of community-minded individuals involved in activities and service projects aimed at exemplifying Good Citizenship. We are committed to and fully enjoy CIVITAN'S three supporting elements of Service, Education, and Fellowship. We enjoy the companionship of a Junior CIVITAN Club, which functions in our local high school.

We were chartered on December 9, 1953. We are dedicated to continuing our historic contributions to the communities of the Farmington Valley through our activities and projects.

We meet for an evening meal, meeting, and speaker program on the at 6:30 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of the month throughout the year at a local restaurant (Latrattoria Restaurant, Canton, CT). Our membership is comprised of both men and women; some members are career-oriented while others are enjoying retirement. We celebrate the fact that CIVITAN was one of the first national/international service organizations to invite women for membership.

Our club engages in various fund raising activities throughout the year (primarily sales of citrus fruits in the Fall and Spring, fruitcake and chocolate in the late Fall, in addition to our ongoing candy and coin boxes located throughout the Valley) in support of grants to the CIVITAN Research Center in Birmingham, Alabama. The Research Center conducts research on the development of the central nervous system, with special emphasis on human development and developmental disabilities. The Sparks Clinic retains the same focus, but serves the developmentally disabled through various therapies and special needs programs.

By working together and combining our abilities and special talents, we give service to others. At the same time we continue to strengthening friendships and discovering a special kind of personal fulfillment.
