July & August 2008

Our Annual trip to Civitan Gib’s cottage took place on July 9th  everyone present enjoyed a delicious steak dinner, games were available for those who wished to participate.

Congratulation to Civitans Ken and Madeline Pilon on the occasion of their Wedding which took place on July 26th of this year.

We wish a speedy recovery to Marie Bryan on the completion of another bout with surgery.

Congratulations to Civitan Don and Phyllis Stanzel on their celebration of 50 years of marriage on July 27th.

The weekend of August 7th saw three Civitans off to the sunny state of West Virginia to attend a Civitan Convention.

Partners Night took place on August 7th for those who attended had a great time, the food was plentiful. After dinner Civitan Julie our Entertainment Chairperson had everyone take part in the game “The Price Is Right”. Just as in the real game the contestants had to guess the price of various articles that were displayed by her willing assistant although he was a male the consencoius was he should be wearing a skirt.

The four people who were closest to the price were then taken on stage and had to guess

the price of another item, of course the one closest in both cases won the prize.

Everyone present really enjoyed themselves especially Al Keays who won the 50/50 which was worth $38.00, not only did he win it but pulled his own ticket.

On August 26th Civitans Joyce & Jim will be celebrating their 53rd Wedding Anniversary, and the honeymoon continues.

SUBJECT: Elderly Lady Driver

Sitting on the side of the road waiting to catch speeding drivers, a state trooper sees

a car puttering along at 22 mph. He thinks to himself, “This driver is as dangerous as

a speeder!” So he turns on his lights and pulls the driver over.

Approaching the car, he notices that here are five elderly ladies, two in the front seat

and three in the back, wide-eyed and white as a ghost.

The driver, obviously confused, says to him, “Officer, I don’t understand, I was going the

exact speed limit. What seems to be the problem?”

The trooper, trying to contain a chuckle, explains to her that 22 was the route number

not the speed limit. A bit embarrassed, the woman grinned and thanked the officer for

pointing out he error. “But before you go, Ma’am, I have to ask, is everyone in this

car OK? These women seem awfully shaken.”

“Oh, they’ll be alright in a minute, officer, we just got off route 127.”

A belated congratulations to Civitans Carol & Don who celebrated their Anniversary in July.
